  • School nurses work with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self -advocacy, and learning.

What Services May Be Provided by School Nurses?
  • Providing emergency nursing services
  • Monitoring of contagious diseases
  • Screenings for vision, hearing, blood pressure, dental and mental health disorders
  • Planning for the health care needs of students with chronic health conditions
  • Providing health education for students, parents, school staff and the community
  • Coordinating student health, with medical and community health services
  • Developing and assisting in the implementation of health policies and procedures
  • Developing a plan and practicing for emergencies that may occur in school
