About Mr. Bauer

Hello!

Here is a little bit about myself and my background, especially as pertains to music.

I have a bachelor of music degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I studied saxophone with Les Thimmig and majored in Music Education. In Madison I also had the opportunity to study with and learn from such great teachers as the saxophonist and flutist Hanah Jon Taylor, the jazz legend Richard Davis, and also with the recently deceased and incredible composer/author/historian/musician Gunther Schuller. I have performed regularly in jazz, blues and salsa groups throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest as well as in the country of Chile where I lived from 2010 to 2012. I have had music teaching experience in Madison, Queens, New York, and Santiago, Chile. I currently live in Manitowoc where in addition to teaching and playing music I spend my time reading, gardening, traveling, camping, biking, and working on my 1981 VW Diesel Rabbit Pickup, among many other interests.

I am also a proud graduate of the Manitowoc Public School District and Manitowoc Lincoln High School where I had the opportunity to not only learn saxophone as my first instrument, but also play football and hockey and learn from some truly great teachers and coaches along the way.
