Why Study Spanish
Why Study Spanish

Did you know that...

Spanish is the second most natively spoken language in the world and is the first language of more than 330 million people in the world?

It is the official language in 21 countries?

Hispanic consumers are the fastest-growing market segment in the United States?

Spanish is the second most used language in international communication and an official language of the UN and its organizations?

Spanish language media (radio, television, newspapers, magazines) is in great demand as the estimated Hispanic population in the USA is now over 16% of the total population?

Knowing Spanish can help you land a job?  Even in junior or senior high school, the fact that you are learning a foreign language shows a prospective employer that you likely are creative, motivated, and flexible.  In addition, foreign language students are often more willing to take risks, are more understanding of cultural diversity, and are better communicators than those who do not study a foreign language.

You may be earning college credit right now for the Spanish courses you're taking in junior and senior high school?  That's right!  Students may take a college placement/entrance exam and receive credit for the courses they took prior to enrolling in college.  Students who complete a 5 or 6 year sequence of Spanish often test high enough to receive a college semester's worth of credits, and in many cases they are only a couple of college classes shy of a minor in Spanish.  That's a huge savings of time and money.

What an investment in your future!
